The Matthew Murphy Foundation was created to honor Matthew’s spirit by turning love, community, and compassion into action. Rooted in the extraordinary support that surrounded Matthew’s family, the foundation is committed to uplifting individuals and families facing adversity by providing essential support, resources, and hope during life’s most difficult moments.
Through fundraising efforts, community partnerships, and the generosity of those who share our mission, we strive to help victim-families and advocates overcome obstacles, begin healing, and rebuild their lives. Our work is grounded in resilience, empowerment, and the belief that no family should have to face tragedy alone.
By bringing together compassionate individuals, local businesses, and community organizations, the Matthew Murphy Foundation creates meaningful pathways toward healing and a brighter future, ensuring families have the opportunity to move forward and thrive. Above all, the foundation exists to carry forward Matthew’s legacy of love, connection, and community by lifting others when they need it most.

ONE OF A KIND
Matthew was funny, smart, and absolutely magnetic. In true teenage fashion, he had his signature catchphrases, and very few hours passed without hearing a cheerful “Holy crap!” from his sweet face. Whether he was with family, friends, teammates, or neighbors, Matthew’s energy was contagious and his presence brought people together.
He loved video games, days at the beach, trips to West Virginia, time with his extended family, and most of all, being with his brother. He was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Matthew’s life was tragically taken by an impaired driver, but even in the face of unimaginable loss, his spirit continued to bring people together. In the days, months, and years that followed, an entire community rallied around his family, lifting them with love, support, and compassion.
Even after his passing, Matthew remained a galvanizing force, teaching all of us how to hold each other close, love harder, and celebrate life each and every day. That spirit is at the heart of the Matthew Murphy Foundation and is exactly what we plan to do on April 25th at the fourth golf outing held in his honor.
MATTHEW THE ENTREPREUR
While Matthew loved so many, he especially loved being with his brother. Living on the golf course, they began a thriving business of golf ball reclamation. They would scour the golf course for lost balls, clean them feverishly, and earn money selling the balls back to players. The balls he found are showcased proudly in his parents' homes. The Bay Hills Golf Course was his backyard and there's no better venue to celebrate him.
EIGHT YEARS LATER
As you play the tournament, keep your eyes open for Matthew's friends and classmates there to celebrate him. These young people were the backbone of support for his brother Patrick, his parents Doug and Monica, and his entire family during the worst time of their lives, and we are thrilled to gather in merriment to begin this new tradition on the course. Please join us, as a golfer, a sponsor, or a volunteer on April 25th for this special and memorable event!
