He was funny, smart, and magnetic. In typical teenage fashion, he had his catchphrases and very few hours went by without a "Holy Crap" from his sweet face. He charmed all he met and was a galvanizer. As we saw, even after his tragic passing, he brought an entire community together and taught us how to celebrate life each and every day. This is just what we plan to do on April 22nd at the first golf outing in his honor.
While Matthew loved so many, he especially loved being with his brother. Living on the golf course, they began a thriving business of golf ball reclamation. They would scour the golf course for lost balls, clean them feverishly, and earn money selling the balls back to players. The balls he found are showcased proudly in his parents' homes. But don't be surprised if you see Matt's friends on the course on the day of the tournament. They may be selling you balls, but we promise it's all for a good cause!
In addition to the event being held on the 5-year anniversary of his passing, this spring also marks the time when Matthew’s friends and classmates will graduate from high school. These young people were the backbone of support for his brother Patrick, his parents Doug and Monica, and his entire family during the worst time of their lives, and we are thrilled to gather in merriment to begin this new tradition on their graduation year. Please join us, as a golfer, a sponsor, or a volunteer on April 22nd for this special and memorable event!
